Windows 2000 SP4 maintenant et les outils (seulement en anglais pour l'instant)

Télécharger le Sp4 en fonction de la langue de votre Windows 2000
Ce SP4 arrive 11 mois après la sortie de son prédécesseur le Service Pack 3, et comprend plus de 650 correctifs, portant en particulier sur les domaines de la sécurité, de la compatibilité matérielle et applicative, de l’installation de Windows 2000, et de la fiabilité de l’OS.

Il apporte également le support d’USB 2.0 et de la norme 802.1x.

Le Service Pack 4 est disponible en 2 versions :
- une version complète 135 Mo (Network installation)
- une version express pour Windows 2000 Professional (plus légère à télécharger mais dont l'installation se fait par le réseau)

The Express Installation

The Express installation can be significantly faster to download than the Network installation. The Express installation detects the service pack files that are already installed on your computer. It then installs only those files that need to be updated. You must stay connected to the Internet during the installation.

The Network Installation

Before you install SP4 on multiple computers, see the Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Installation and Deployment Guide and the Hotfix Installation and Deployment Guide for information about installing SP4 in a corporate environment with or without Windows 2000.

Because you can use the Network installation method to install the service pack on multiple computers, and downloading the Network installation files takes a substantial amount of time, Microsoft recommends that you save the files that you download on your computer. This enables you to complete multiple installations, restart the installation, or reinstall SP4 without downloading the files again

How to Download and Install

Note The Windows 2000 SP4 Deploy Tools are not installed to a local directory on the hard drive, instead you must manually copy them from the cab file to the location of your choice.

1. Click the SP4 Deploy Tools link at the top of the page, under Download.
2. From the File Download dialog box, click Save this program to disk, and then click OK.
3. Save the file to the location of your choice.
4. Navigate to the file location and double-click SP4DeployTools.exe.
5. Under Choose Directory For Extracted Files, enter the location of your choice, or click Browse to select a location for the \i386\deploy.cab and \i386\w2ksp4.sms files to be copied to.
6. Double-click deploy.cab to access the help file (deptool.chm) and copy it to the location of your choice. The help file provides detailed information about each tool and instructions for how they should be extracted and used.
7. Double-click deploy.cab to access the individual Deployment Tools and copy them to the location of your choice.
